The world of Nankai is an isolated one, large but restricted. Surrounded by a raging ocean in the south and west, the north is dominated by a deadly desert of ice in winter or dust and sand in summer and in the east, a high and dangerous mountain chain prevents people from crossing. The land knows peace and everyone willing to work will have a good life - at least it had been like this since a few years ago. The enclosed area in itself worked well until the resources started to became more and more rare, especially crafting resources like metal as the available mountains no longer hold enough to deliver the whole middle-eastern-like country of Nankai.
As a result, many groups of explorers were sent to the east to see if there are any ways to find more metal and better passages to reach further in the mountainside. Most of them returned unsuccessfully or were later found dead, but some expeditions were never found and never came back ...
Those were the ones that made it through as there is one, only one passage to the other side of the mountains - dangerous, but a possibility. It takes a month to reach the other side, but there they found a new world, seperated from Nankai and habitated by a completely different sort of humanoid creature - the Terran as they call themselves, a group of tribes in the wilderness of their uncivilized land. They love nature and have formed a strong bound to animals and plantlife, some are even able to manipulate the elements around them, communicate with animals, healing powers and so much none of the Nankai people ever saw - those are called the Arev'Terran and are believed to be heirs of the creators of the world. They do not know that there are people beyond the mountains they consider to be home of their dead people's souls, and none of them ever got in contact with the hornless people without pointy ears from beyond the stone curtain... Chances are that this might be trouble.
Shortfacts:- Explorers from Nankai are normal looking people yet do have access to special gadgets like compasses, simple firearms like matchlock pistols, can be skilled in crafting metal and medicine and so on.
- The Terran are also humanoid but can have all kind of special appearances. Horns, pointy or animal ears, extra limbs and such are possible. Yet this race is bound to nature and has no access or need for technology watsoever, they live in holes dug into dead mammoth trees and aside from simple constructions like hand looms and so on they don't have or need anything to lead a good life. Every Terran has an excellent connection to nature, incredible instincts and is very talented in surviving almost every known situation. They only use metal for accessories and small gadgets like sharp knives, for everything else they use bones, bark and else.
- Arev'terran belong to the Terran but also have special abilities. Be it the bending of water or earth to their will, healing skills bevond the humanly possible, understanding and commanding animals, extraordinary jumping skills or even immaterializing so they can travel through water or earth invisibly. Their stamina and strength depends on their bloodline.
